Wii My Fitness Coach Review

My Fitness Coach is like going to an aerobics class – you sweat and sweat with this exercise game. It’s bound to be compared to the Wii Fit, but it’s more intense and does NOT use the Wii Balance Board. It’s actually closer to an interactive customizable video workout than a game.

People overwhelmingly love My Fitness Coach, although of course nothing is universally popular and a few people find it boring or have other complaints, many of which we list below. Most people who try it do love it or are otherwise extremely positive.

My Fitness Coach starts by asking you a lot of questions just like a personal trainer or coach would. Since the built in trainer, Maya, can’t take your measurements personally, she asks you to with a tape measure. It also lets you incorporate exercises you already do and equipment you already have, such as a step or weights.

Of course unless you actually use it, it’s not going to get you in shape! To help prevent boredom, and let’s face it, many people find exercise boring, it has 8 different exercise environments, 8 types of music including Hip Hop, 80s, Dance, and Latin, and over 400 exercises. It changes your exercise routine so no two days are alike. If a routine is too easy, it will make it harder the next time.

Pros: My Fitness Coach is fun and will help you get fit. It’s more intense than Wii Fit. It has over 400 exercises and varies your workouts so no two are ever the same. Most people love it.

Cons: Some of the exercises can be difficult to do if your Wii is in a typical cramped living room. Some complain the music is lame, for example “watered down Hip Hop” and “80s tunes no one has ever heard before.” There are no low impact options so if you use a cane, have a bad back, etc. it may not be for you. And of course some people find it way too hard and some find it way too easy.

Overall: My Fitness Coach is a high tech interactive customizable video workout that most people love. If you have physical handicaps or impediments it may not be for you due to the lack of low impact routines. It’s not much of a game per se, but it will make you sweat and help you get in shape if you actually stick to it, and most people like it enough that this isn’t an issue.

Most people give My Fitness Coach a big thumbs up!
